This winter, after years of hostility or indifference, the Virginia General Assembly passed several measures to protect the civil rights of LGBTQ+ Virginians. More recently, the US Supreme Court decided three LGBTQ+ employment law cases, deciding that the prohibition on sex-based employment discrimination in Title 7 of the Civil Rights Act also applies to discrimination based on sexuality and gender identity. In this panel, we’ll briefly summarize these developments and answer questions as well as non-lawyers can.
